A little encouragement

Description

It was always times like this that she felt most guilty. It wasn't necessarily her fault, but she was responsible for their well being. Aerika had searched all over the whole damn universe and she had yet to find them. Now, as she reached the town of Passamaquoddy, she felt no more sure about finding them. I mean, why would they come to this place anyway? It was just some little town near the coast with no real significance.

Well, besides the fact it was the one place she hadn't checked.

But low and behold, not one sign of them. The girl angrily kicked up dust with her shoes. She wished to scream, but she already had enough strange looks from the people in this damned town. Quietly steaming, she walked over to some cheap ass rope swing and sat down. She thought it might snap under her weight (this rope was pretty weak looking), but it held firm. Aerika sighed as he rest her forehead against her hand.

How hard was it for her to see how irresponsible her choices were? If she had seen it at the beginning, none of this would have happened. The two wouldn't be recklessly bounding from world-to-world destroying the stable balance she had worked so hard to establish. If she couldn't find them here, then she was sure they weren't anywhere. She was throwing in the towel. There was so many worlds, so many possibilities, and this was just one of hundreds of small worlds they could be. She would just have to assume the worst. She couldn't supply anymore men to go look for them...

A sudden jerk on the swing made her jump from her thoughts. The brunette stood up quickly looking about. But there was... nothing. Absolutely nothing. She scrunched her brows together in confusion. She had been sure something was there only moments before. Aerika cautiously sat back on the swing. Another jerk. " Alright! Who's there? I've had a bad day and I sure as hell don't need to be haras-.......Oh my..."

Her words stopped short as a enormous dragon appeared in front of her in the blink of an eye. The thing looked at her, green scales rippling with every movement. Aerika was frozen, mainly by the fact he had just shown up so suddenly and well, that he was the size of a freaking tree. " S-stay back!" she said snapping out of her initial shock. The dragon gave a baffled look as he leaned forward.

Was the creature....giggling? Aerika blinked as stared at the dragon. No.... that was definitely laughter. " What?" she asked quite bemused. The dragon gurgled and growled in some foreign language, but she surprisingly understood.

" You're entertaining."

" Oh....I don't mean to be..."

" My name is Elliot. Are you alright?"

" I'm Aerika and...," she paused, pinching the bridge of her nose," Wait, why do you care?"

" I'm always around to help those who need it."

" Well, Mr. Elliot, I don't think you can help me," she laughed dryly as she sat down on the swing. Aerika kicked her feet. It's not that the dragon wasn't friendly, but she really didn't want to interact with people.... or rather dragons, of this world anymore than need be.

" I think you just need a little push."

Aerika's swing suddenly flew upwards. She yelped and grasped the ropes tightly as she began swing back and forth. Elliot gently pushed her to keep her pace up. Needless to say, she was TERRIFIED from his little stunt. She looked at the dragon. " Don't do that! You scared me!" Elliot giggled again.

" Sometimes the initial jump is scary, but the only way you'll get anything done is if you take the first step. Sure, it may be intimidating. And yeah, you might give up, but you have to know that there's someone out there who needs you. Even if you have to get up a little push to get started."

Aerika stared up at Elliot. " Oh....," she mumbled absorbing his words. The girl smiled. " Thank you. I guess you could help after al-.....Elliot?" She stood up, looking around. Gone. As quickly as he had appeared, he was gone. Aerika stared at the spot he had just been. She nodded as she looked down at her map. " Right, the next world is..."

HEY! Bet you have no clue what Disney movie this is.

It's Pete's Dragon. It's really old. It's from....the 70's I think.
I made it for the contest over at khoriginals
I chose this world because, well, it's really unused. I'm probably the first. Not only that, but I do love Elliot. He's one of the coolest imaginary-yet-not-imaginary friends ever

This is the first contest piece I've ever done and well...

The background sucks. URGH. It really annoys me.
So does Aerika's dress. Dude. The time period it "EARLY 20TH CENTURY." That is soooo unspecific. I also tried to write a story (which was a fail) but I thought I need to explain what the HECK is going on. But I couldn't reveal too much about what Aerika is doing

I'm also still trying to a hang of my tablet. I have nailed lineart yet....or anything really. SIGH. I need a lot more practice.
