Hajiki is soft spoken, finding it difficult to express himself in words and tends to fumble through his sentences with great embarrassment. He's highly analytic and prefers to listen rather than lead a conversation. However, this isn't to say he's willing to listen to every conversation. If he doesn't care, he will just kindly get up and leave. Due to his wealth, this habit tends to get him labeled as pretentious. But he is quite a sympathetic person, highly in tune to sensing others pain. He has a great sense of unflinching loyalty (influenced from his father's 'group') and is willing to stick his neck out for his friends. He rarely loses his temper, yet he has little opposition to putting others in their place when they go too far.
He rarely gets in touch with his own feelings, this is why he usually seem cold or detached. He can very easily live in denial by saying he feels okay or everything is alright even when it's not. This is an easy way out, and it takes a lot of coercion to get him to admit when he feels critical upon himself.
Being the second son, he finds it easier to live his life as a background piece and has become used to being a wallflower. Despite technically being in the running for heir, he knows his older brother has been groomed far better for the position. He does have high expectations still, and finds himself being pushed to learn business and language. He has no affinity for language though, and finds it nearly impossible to speak anything but Japanese without floundering around helplessly in his sentences. He flourishes in the math and science though and excels in problem solving. And due to his desire to observe rather than experience, he has an exceptional memory and easily takes note of the good and bad traits of others; quite useful when you're yakuza..

+History:

Hajiki was born in Japan to the leader of a yakuza gang. Ever since he was a child, he was groomed to be a leader. Of course; a leader that remained in his brother's shadow. Being the second son to the yakuza boss, he wasn't held to as high a standard as his brother. In fact, sometimes he was completely brushed off by his father who was too busy teaching the eldest all the in's and out's. Not that Hajiki very much minded being ignored. He rather enjoyed remaining out of the spotlight that his brother was shoved into.

Instead, he took up more 'refined hobbies' (as he labels it). He studied more the business aspect of his father's job. He spent most of his time as a child being off alone, studying diligently. He found his favorite activity to be sitting in their garden and reading. He soon started to read about plants, interested in them after reading beside them everyday, and became consumed by a passion for science and botany. Of course, his father wasn't exactly excited by such ideas, still holding Hajiki in the race to heir despite not having focused on him. His family's shipping company, while it does good business, is also a cover for some more... questionable shipments. His father turned Hajiki to focus more on using his knowledge to learn how to solve business problems rather than becoming a botanist. Even though the boy wanted to protest, he knew his family's legacy was always to be more important than his own aspirations. It was all fine for Hajiki though since he could flourish here, where his brother had not.

Unfortunately, this also placed his name on the board. Now that he was gaining more recognition from his father, he was also being thrust out into the spotlight... The second son would always be a far easier target than the first and his mass of bodyguards...

When Hajiki was about ten, he was briefly kidnapped by an opposing group. He was quickly brought back within a day after a...'conversation' from his father to the other yakuza group. However, it was made apparent now Hajiki needed more protection than he had before. His father signed him up for Aikido classes and even got a personal bodyguard for him; a man named Xiu.

From that point forward, Hajiki continued to improve in his skills. He did not have the confidence and leadership qualities of his brother, but his intelligence and willingness to help and listen kept him from fading into the background again. It even looked like he might have a shot at being heir.

That is, of course, until the BETAV incident occurred. Hajiki, along with several other members of the yakuza (including his father's business partner) were visiting islands near Mangetsu about some shipments that had gone awry when the ZETA base released the virus. The group was easily infected with secondary symptoms and only Hajiki and Xiu somehow managed to survive.

Now, quarantined away from his father and brother, he holds little hope for becoming heir...
